health care aide proclamation MGEU

Today is Health Care Aide Day – a salute to more than 8,000 women and men who provide front-line care for our most vulnerable citizens – as proclaimed by the Manitoba Government.

Health Care Aides ensure Manitobans remain independent for as long as possible. They work in a variety of settings; including home, community and residential care.

“With our aging population and the demands being placed on our healthcare system today, these individuals are truly unsung heroes,” says MGEU President Lois Wales. “Often they don’t receive the recognition they deserve for keeping our system going. Which is why, on behalf of every MGEU member, I’m pleased to say ‘thank you’ to all of our Health Care Aides in Manitoba for their contribution.”

The MGEU represents more than 1,600 Health Care Aides and roughly 4,500 Home Care Attendants in Manitoba.
