A vote planning meeting held last week for the newly formed Western Regional Health Authority (formerly the Assiniboine, Brandon and Parkland RHAs) resulted in a unilateral decision by the Manitoba Labour Board to conduct a mail-in ballot vote.

Because of this decision by the Manitoba Labour Board, it is imperative that everyone who is eligible to vote makes sure their home address is up-to-date with their employer. If you’re unsure that the Manitoba Labour has been given your correct mailing address, please contact your employer immediately.

The ballots for the Western Regional Health Authority vote for Technical Professional Paramedical members will be mailed out by the Manitoba Labour Board on August 24th, 2012. All completed ballots have to be received back at the Manitoba Labour Board offices in Winnipeg no later than September 14th. Any ballots received after that date will not be counted.

Although in the past the unions involved have been provided personal addresses of affected members, the Manitoba Labour Board has decided not to release the addresses for this vote, making it difficult to inform members of the benefits of each union and requiring additional time to hold meetings at each work-site, which increases the length of the votes.

Should you have any questions regarding the representation votes, please contact the MGEU Resource Centre at 1-866-982-6438.
