On Monday, June 11th, at 7 pm, MGEU will be hosting a union telephone town hall meeting regarding issues surrounding self regulation of paramedics. This topic is something that is of interest to all paramedics and there has been a lot of discussion about the merits of the plan put forward by the Paramedics Association of Manitoba (PAM).
The meeting will involve MGEU President Lois Wales, MGEU’s Technical Professional Paramedical Component Director Wayne Chacun, as well as Jodi Possia and Eric Glass from PAM.
During the meeting, you will be able to ask questions and make comments, just like in a radio call-in show. All you have to do to participate is answer the phone when we call on Monday. If we don’t have your contact information, or your contact information has changed, please call the MGEU Resource Centre to provide an update at 1-866-982-6438 or 982-6438 (Winnipeg).
As mentioned, the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. If you want to submit questions via email in advance of the meeting, you are encouraged to do so. Send your questions to resourcecentre@mgeu.ca and we will try to get to some of these during the telephone town hall.
In addition, PAM has a document on their website paramedicsofmanitoba.ca, which is continually being updated, to answer some of the questions paramedics have been raising about self regulation.
We hope you will join us on Monday at 7 p.m.
