(Manitoba Federation of Labour) - Canadian Unions and their members have been targeted by the Harper government to force public disclosure of their finances, and hence their planning and strategies, so anti-union employers and union-busting consultants can get an insider's road-map to how best to oppose unions.

This attack is taking the form of Bill C-377, a private member's bill introduced by a Conservative backbencher. It would amend the Income Tax Act (in order to circumvent provincial government authority) to require unions to provide the government with financial information that is normally only shared with union members. This information would be posted on a federal government website for anyone to read - giving them valuable insight into what unions are planning and how those unions plan to defend themselves against employer or government aggression.

Contact your MP and tell them you do not support this union-busting tactic.
