Every year on April 28, the labour movement hosts events to mark the International Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job. With the Day of Mourning falling on a weekend this year, events are being held on both the Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28.

 

Friday, April 27 - SAFE Workers of Tomorrow Annual Day of Mourning Leaders' Walk

A youth-led march to honour the National Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job. Because this year's theme is 'Health and Safety Rights are Human Rights,' this year's march will head to the site of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights at the Forks. At 11:45 a.m. on Friday, April 27, the march will depart from Union Centre entrance, 275 Broadway.

Saturday April 28, MFL Day of Mourning Candlelight Service

A candlelight service to remember those who have lost their lives earning a living, and those who have become disabled from work, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, in Room 2C of the Union Centre, 275 Broadway.
