It is with heavy hearts that the MGEU mourns the passing of long-time member and dedicated activist, Kathy Ducharme. As a resident of The Pas, Kathy represented Civil Service Clerical members in her community from 1981 – 1987, and then at the University College of the North from 1987 – 2011.
Throughout her career, she held many union positions including Local President, Area Director, Health and Safety Representative, and committee member on most of the union’s standing committees. Kathy was one of the longest-serving members on the MGEU’s Board of Directors and she will be remembered as a tireless advocate for everyone in UCN Local 69, treating everyone and every issue with the same respect and diligence.
Her tenacity, dedication and infectious laughter will be missed by all of her friends at the MGEU.
Kathy is survived by her husband Ken Gerrese, her sons Neil and Michael Ducharme, and three grandchildren Ethan, Keith and Zeke.
