MGEU members in Thompson marched and handed out candy at the Christmas Parade on November 26th.

It was Thompson’s first Christmas Parade since 1959 and was held on National Child Day and was organized by Hello Parents and the Thompson Downtown Revitalization Committee.

The parade started at 2 p.m. at Doug’s Source for Sports on Cree Road and traveled around the city, finishing at City Hall where there was sledding, hot chocolate, and the town tree lighting at 4:30 p.m.

Terry-Lyn Gagnon, Area 8 Women's Committee Member, brought up the idea and took the lead in organizing our members to participate in the parade.

There was an overwhelming community turn out ,and MGEU hopes to be even more involved in the parade next year.
