Over the last couple of weeks, hundreds of MGEU members from a variety of workplaces ranging from the Department of Corrections to Assiniboine Community College have rolled up their sleeves to help fortify our defenses against the historic flooding of the Assiniboine.

“It’s during times like these that a strong public sector can be crucial in quickly mobilizing the resources we need to get the job done,” said MGEU President Lois Wales. “We can’t always predict when emergencies are going to strike, and I’m proud of our members for such quick mobilization. They’re doing everything they can to help protect the people and the communities that they serve every day.”

The MGEU office in Brandon is currently under evacuation order. Staff can be reached by contacting the MGEU Resource Centre.

“Right now, we’re all pulling for those affected by flood waters and want to do all we can to be of service,” Wales added.
