After six months at the bargaining table, the MGEU's Civil Service Master Bargaining Committee and the employer have concluded the non-monetary portion of negotiations, which includes contract language issues such as working conditions and rights on the job.

Discussions have now moved on to wages, benefits and pensions. Management has tabled an offer and the committee is currently in the process of preparing a counter-offer.

Needless to say, this had been a difficult bargaining climate. The bargaining committee has been elected to represent a diverse workforce made up of eight different Components and their priority is always to ensure the very best deal for all.

The committee appreciates members' continued patience and support and will be posting other updates here on mgeu.ca in the coming weeks.

For ongoing updates, you can also contact your Component Director through the Resource Centre.
