Every year the Canadian Association of Labour Media (CALM) recognizes excellence in union publications and productions. Entries are judged by independent experts in a variety of categories and the winners are announced at a ceremony held every year in a different Canadian city in conjunction with the annual CALM Conference.

The 2009 CALM Awards were presented at the 2010 CALM conference in Windsor on May 15, 2010. At those awards, the MGEU was recognized for the Best overall website produced by staff (www.mgeu.ca).

“For many years now, the MGEU has looked at many new ways for our union to reach members and over the past decade that’s meant putting a lot of effort into our online communications,” says MGEU President Peter Olfert. “It’s very encouraging to see our efforts being recognized on a national level, especially when you consider the depth of outstanding communication materials being produced by CALM members across the country.”
