Last Friday, the Union met with Family Services and Housing's Labour Relations and Human Resources, to further discuss why FSH was requiring Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact Checks to be completed on all FSH staff.

As a result of this meeting, it was determined that agreeing to these checks was a voluntary requirement. Management will be sending a letter to all staff providing clarification on this issue. The letter will state that giving authorization for these checks is voluntary and that anyone who already authorized the checks, but wishes to rescind, will be able to do so.

When the letter to all staff is authorized, the final copy will be posted here.
