Today the Manitoba department of Competitiveness, Training and Trade hosted the official kick-off for the 2009 All Charities Campaign at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

Manitoba sport was front and centre as this year’s “Salute to the Olympics” kick-off theme helped raise funds for various sport charities in the province.

The biggest kick-off crowd on record enjoyed a warm September afternoon with local entertainment, Manitoba food, and a silent auction. Government employees also relished the opportunity to soak their boss from head to toe at the Dunk-A-Deputy fundraiser, held just outside the Convention Centre entrance.

MGEU President Peter Olfert was also on hand to greet the crowd as he thanked government employees for their continued support of the campaign and their community.

“Today, you’ve come together as government workers to do something beyond the dedicated service you provide day-in and day-out — you’ve come together through the All-Charities campaign to do even more… give above and beyond.”

All Charities is an annual campaign that provides current and retired employees of the Manitoba Government with a convenient way to give to registered charities of their choice.
