Members of the Manitoba Ombudsman – Local 457 are the latest Manitobans to unionize with the MGEU!

Manitoba Ombudsman conduct independent, impartial, and non-partisan investigations regarding access to information and privacy matters, the fairness of government actions or decisions, or serious wrongdoings.

It is an independent office of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba and is not part of any government department or agency.

A labour certification vote was held from Friday, June 25 noon till Monday, June 28 noon. The vote was the first electronic vote the MGEU had with the Labour Board (Simply Voting) and was a success.

The next step for the new members is to elect a Local Executive and bargain their first contract.

“MGEU is thrilled to begin working with this new Local to ensure they have a strong voice and receive the respect they deserve while on the job,” MGEU President, Michelle Gawronsky said.
