The Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union (MGEU) stands in solidarity with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) health care workers on strike in Alberta.

“These workers have been pushed to the brink and are courageously fighting back against a mean-spirited government that is putting public health care for all at risk. Shame on the Kenney government and their plans to strip away the rights of the very workers we have all been celebrating as heroes for keeping our health care system running through the pandemic,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “If you care about health care, then you need to care about health care workers.”

The MGEU will continue to support these workers through the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) and our sister union, Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA), who are respecting the picket lines and increasing the pressure on the Government of Alberta to ensure quality public health care is available to all Albertans when they need it most.
