Like all Manitoba organizations, the MGEU was forced to make some changes to operations during the pandemic, which included limiting the number and type of in-person meetings that are being scheduled by the union.
With the Manitoba government’s relaxing of public health restrictions, the union is once again making changes. Today the MGEU introduced an in-person meeting protocol that puts health and safety first. We ask that all members review the protocol before attending an upcoming meeting.
For those who attend, we ask that you follow provincial public health orders and guidance on physical distancing, as well as proper cough/sneezing and hand washing practices. Any staff or members who are experiencing symptoms or meet provincial criteria for self-isolation should not attend a union meeting or visit an MGEU office.
Members are also asked not to arrive at an MGEU office or meeting more than five minutes early for the scheduled time. This will reduce the number of people congregating outside a meeting room door or in our waiting room.
Other MGEU member services continue to be provided in accordance with the previous update posted in May:
•We are accepting deliveries to our Winnipeg Head Office during business hours. Please drop off deliveries outside our reception door. For our rural offices, please use the secure drop box or contact the Member Resource Centre to make delivery arrangements.
•MGEU mail distribution to members also continues. To ensure members receive information as quickly as possible, most updates will continue to be sent via email. For any members who have not already provided the MGEU with their personal email address, we encourage you to update your contact information here.
•The MGEU Resource Centre continues to take calls and emails from members. If you have a question, please contact us Monday – Friday, 8am-6pm. Please contact the Resource Centre before visiting an MGEU office in order to determine how we can best provide assistance.
•The MGEU continues to disinfect frequently touched surfaces in common areas of our offices on a daily basis during business hours.
If you require any additional information about meetings or member services during the pandemic, please contact us.
