Today we say goodbye to a long-time MGEU staff member and friend, Bill Comstock, who passed away last night after a lengthy illness.

Bill worked in human resources and was a staff member of the Institutional Employees Union (IEU) when it merged with the MGEU (then known as the MGEA) in 1983. Bill worked for the MGEU for 23 years before retiring in 2006 as the union’s Director of Negotiating Services. After his retirement, he provided labour relations services to the Winnipeg Association of Public Service Officers on a part-time basis until 2014.

Bill served on the Manitoba Labour Board and on the St. Amant Board of Directors. He was also a founding member and avid supporter of Manitoba Special Olympics.

The MGEU extends its heartfelt condolences to Bill’s family. He will be missed.

A service will be held Monday, June 10 at 1pm at the Church of the Rock (1397 Buffalo Place) in Winnipeg.
