Today the Government of Manitoba proclaimed October 15 – 19, 2018 Health Care Support Services Week  and October 18, 2018 Health Care Aide Day.

Health care support workers can be found throughout our health care system: in hospitals, clinics, personal care homes, chronic care, and long-term care facilities. The proclamation of this important week and day is an opportunity for Manitobans to celebrate and salute the thousands of front-line health workers who care for us each and every day.

“This week is a very special opportunity to say thank you to the often unsung heroes of health care,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “These hard-working people don’t always receive the recognition they so rightly deserve, but they are absolutely vital to the day-to-day quality of health care for all Manitobans.”

The MGEU represents over 8,000 health care support workers throughout the province.
