Cutting civil service jobs, closing ERs, privatizing home care – the public services Manitobans depend on are starting to fall through the cracks because of government cuts and privatization. That’s the message from the latest MGEU ad campaign to hit airwaves today.

The government is cutting 1,200 jobs in the provincial civil service that support families and ensure our water, workplaces and roads are safe. Falling Through the Cracks reminds Manitobans that when the government starts cutting services, you’ll feel it.

“As Manitobans we count on our public services to be there when we need them,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “But as we’ve seen over the past year, cuts are threatening those services and the things we all care about are starting to fall through the cracks.”

Manitobans will recognize the ads from the MGEU’s Keep Us Together campaign. The updated campaign will be running on TV and online throughout the province over the next several weeks.
