This past weekend, the MGEU took home top honours at the 2008 Canadian Association of Labour Media (CALM) Awards.

The awards, held every year in a different Canadian city in conjunction with the CALM Conference, recognize the hard work of unions across the country. The MGEU won recognition in the Best Radio Advertisement category.

The winning radio ad, "My Dad", was one of five radio ads that aired in Manitoba during the summer of 2008. It was one of the largest safety campaigns in MGEU history aimed at ensuring drivers slow down in highway construction zones.

“We are extremely proud of these public service announcements, and want to extend our thanks to the many broadcasters across Manitoba who partnered with us to bring this message of safety to the public,” said MGEU President Peter Olfert.
