This week, MGEU President, Michelle Gawronsky wrapped up the Care Comes First tour, for 2017, in the Prairie Mountain region of the province – meeting with members in health centres and personal care homes to talk about health care.

Members continue to share their concerns about the future of health care services in Western Manitoba, where there’s been talk of closing ERs in four communities.

"Members are finding it difficult to go about their jobs with this much uncertainty hanging over their heads. We understand that change is needed but the government hasn’t taken the opportunity to sit down and talk with any of us. We are providers as well as the users and taxpayers of the services so we have a vested interest in our small communities,” said Gawronsky. “It’s very frustrating when they just unilaterally decide that a facility is closing.”
