The MGEU is pleased to announce the 2017 winners of nearly $25,000 in MGEU educational scholarships and bursaries.
“It’s my great pleasure to congratulate all of this year’s successful applicants,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “Our union is about building a better life for our members and their families and these bursaries give people the chance to pursue an education and upgrade their skills.”
Each year, sixteen bursaries are awarded based on financial need. Two bursaries are available in each of the MGEU’s eight geographically-defined Areas: one $1,000 bursary for an MGEU member and one $1,500 for a spouse/common-law partner, child or ward of an MGEU member.

Congratulations also goes out to Katelyn Horrocks, recipient of the Joseph Grenier Bursary, available to members of the Health Care Support Services (HCSS) Component, spouse of an HCSS member, or child or ward of an HCSS member.
"The Peter Olfert Scholarship is available to anyone studying public policy," Gawronsky said. "It could be workplace safety and health, the environment, human rights, the role of government...work that will impact public policy and services in our province."
The 2017 recipient of the Peter Olfert Scholarship is Ben Akoh.
