During Question Period at the Manitoba Legislature on Monday, Premier Brian Pallister committed to meeting with MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky.

The Premier made this comment, “I congratulate the newly elected president of the MGEU, who I will be meeting with shortly,” while answering a question from the opposition.

“It’s important for us to have an avenue to speak to the Premier on behalf of all our members.  This is such an important step toward a solid working relationship,” said Gawronsky.  “We have a number of important issues to talk about, and top of mind is protecting and investing in our public services and keeping them public.”

To date President Gawronsky has met with four senior cabinet ministers.  This includes the continuation of Joint Council.  Joint Council is a form of a Labour-Management Committee established under the Civil Service Act. The mandate of Joint Council is to deal with labour or management issues at a high level and work toward solutions.
