The ballots have been counted
and members of Diagnostic Services Manitoba (DSM), Locals 388-390, 392, and 393
have given their Bargaining Committee a strike mandate.
“The issues still at the
bargaining table are related to recruitment and retention and excessive
workloads, and we would like nothing more than to get back to the table to
address them,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “No one ever wants to go
on strike, but the RHAs and the government need to hear us loud and clear,
these are significant issues we’re trying to address – it’s becoming tougher
and tougher to attract health care professionals to rural areas and that
affects everyone.”
Strike votes were held between August 8 – 20, with the votes counted at noon on the 20th.
