The ballots have been counted and members of Interlake-Eastern Technical Professional/EMS (Locals 411 and 418) have given their Bargaining Committee a strike mandate.

“Although members have given us a strike mandate, our goal is to return to the bargaining table to discuss unresolved issues,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “The most significant issues still on the table are related to fatigue and recruitment and retention. These issues should be of great concern for residents in the Interlake-Eastern area as well as our members."

Strike votes were held between July 22 - 28 and counted on July 29. With calls for a return to the table going unanswered since members rejected the employer’s offer in May, members felt they had no choice but to prepare for job action in order to get a fair deal.
