On Saturday, July 9, 2016, the first-ever Pride event in
Steinbach drew media and participants from across the country ? and once again,
the MGEU Equality and Human Rights Committee was proud to march in support of
fairness and equality for all Manitobans.
The historic July event was the latest in Pride events held
across the province in the last six weeks.
The MGEU was a key sponsor of Pride Winnipeg’s 29th
multi-event celebration held May 26 through June 4, 2016. Dozens of MGEU
members took part in these celebrations, culminating in the annual parade where
the MGEU Equality and Human Rights Committee entered a float on behalf of MGEU.
As in past years, Pride events were also held in other
locations across Manitoba. The MGEU sponsored a movie night at the Brandon
Pride event and will also be involved with the Pride “North of Fifty Five”
festival in Thompson in September.
