Provincial employees were honoured this afternoon (as part of Public Service Week celebrations) for going above and beyond in delivering programs and services for all Manitobans at the 18th Annual Manitoba Service Excellence Awards.

Manitoba Premier, Brian Pallister and MGEU President, Michelle Gawronsky were among the hundreds on hand at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg to honour the efforts, hard work and dedication of Manitoba Government civil servants who deliver service excellence every day of the year.

The awards recognize distinction in workplace performance and include an award for cross-sectoral teams of provincial government and external partners (public sector, volunteer or community-based organizations) whose efforts foster excellence in meeting public needs and improve programs and practices.

Nearly 300 people were nominated for their efforts in six different categories. This year’s award recipients are:

  • Innovation Award –  Manitoba Municipal Road and Bridge Program: Consolidation and Streamlining of Provincial Grant Funding Team
  • Leadership Award – Kevin Popowich, Dept. of Indigenous and Municipal Relations
  • Service Excellence Individual Award – Jeanette Gaultier, Dept. of Agriculture
  • Service Excellence Team Award – Design 3 Internal Training and Engineer-in-Training
  • Partnership Award – Manitoba Beef and Forage Initiatives Inc.
  • Premier’s Career Achievement Award – Mike Knight, Department of Infrastructure

“It's so very important that we take the time to celebrate and recognize the people who provide the valuable public services Manitobans enjoy each and every day,” says Gawronsky. “Thank you to all of the nominees for their hard work and dedication and congratulations to this year’s recipients."

The Manitoba Service Excellence Awards are proudly sponsored by the Civil Service Commission, Business Transformation and Technology and the MGEU. The awards were established through Service Quality Partners and were presented for the first time in 1999.
