MGEU UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN POSITION

The MGEU is looking for one experienced elected workplace union activist to fill the role of our Sponsored Executive for the 2016 Winnipeg United Way Campaign.  

Major Responsibilities

You will be assigned a portfolio of workplace accounts within one specific Campaign Division, and as an integral member of the team, you will: 

  • Create strategies and plans to maximize workplace campaign participation and giving;
  • Identify opportunities to implement new and improved workplace campaign plans;
  • Lead in addressing employee groups through the creation and delivery of effective, compelling messages to support the Campaign;
  • Coach and mentor volunteer campaign committees and canvassers;
  • Communicate, motivate and build teams to establish and maintain relationships with workplace volunteers;
  • Analyze, date and create regular financial projections in collaboration with the team;
  • Manage projects by monitoring, evaluating, and reporting campaign progress in your assigned portfolio of accounts;
  • Equip workplace campaign teams with materials and supplies;
  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, staff and team members;
  • Promote and coordinate agency speakers and tours as part of the workplace campaign;
  • Submit award requests, letters of thanks and final reports for each account in a timely manner;
  • Support United Way’s Campaign Kickoff, Report Sessions, and other campaign events;
  • Attend all appropriate Campaign and staff events and meetings;
  • Learn about United Way’s Agency Partners.

Qualifications

  • Experienced elected workplace activist from MGEU Area 6 or 7 (Winnipeg) whose employer runs an annual United Way workplace campaign;
  • Has not previously been an MGEU Sponsored Executive to the United Way Campaign;
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the assignment;
  • Professional approach, confidence and the ability to think on your feet;
  • Some evening, early morning and/or weekend work may be required;
  • A cell phone and laptop would be considered assets – MGEU will provide if needed.

Work Location: United Way of Winnipeg, 580 Main St. Winnipeg MB

Duration: The successful applicant will choose between ONE of the following three-month terms:

August 2 to November 4, 2016 OR August 29 to December 2, 2016

NOTE: Selection is subject to your employer agreeing to MGEU’s 3-month time-off request.
