A medical emergency occurred at the Winnipeg Remand Centre recently that ended with the death of an inmate. Our sympathies go out to this family on their loss.
Manitoba Correctional Officers take their responsibility to ensure the health and safety of inmates, and each other, seriously. Protocols are established by Manitoba Justice when illness or injury happens.
As a union we are encouraging our members to participate in the investigation to establish what happened. I think it's important for everyone to withhold judgement on what happened until all the facts are known.
