Raise money in support of Winnipeg Organizations working for social justice and human rights.

Mark Saturday June 6, 2009 on your calendar for the 8th Annual Run for Rights. Whether you choose to walk, run, cycle or rollerblade, this event is a great way for MGEU members to get some exercise or warm up for the Manitoba marathon in support of social justice and human rights.

As a major sponsor of the 2009 Run for Rights, the MGEU will help organize the event and raise funds by encouraging members to complete a 5 or 10km route, which stretches along Scotia Street from Kildonan Park to St. John’s Park in Winnipeg. The event begins at 9:30 am (registration from 8:30 to 9:00 am).

Members in this year’s run are encouraged to collect pledges on behalf of any of the groups listed below, or for the Run for Rights Coalition (the funds will be divided between all organizations):

Aboriginal Visioning for the North End
Accountable Development Works
Afghan-Canadian Women’s Organization
Amnesty International
Canada-Haiti Action Network
Canada Palestine Support Network
Community Unemployed Help Centre
Engineers Without Borders
Fazhan International Program
Guatemala Relief Foundation
