Fair Deal Tour, bus image

Over the last week, hundreds of MGEU members and supporters braved the less-than-ideal weather to come out and send a loud-and-clear message to government: a fair offer for Civil Service members is not too much to ask!

Rallies outside MLA offices and government buildings throughout the province were bolstered by supporters from other MGEU Components and Locals, and members of other unions.

“It meant a lot to the Civil Service Bargaining Committee to experience this kind of solidarity and common purpose,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky.

The tour received province-wide media coverage, including CBC in Winnipeg, the Selkirk Journal, the Interlake Spectator, Portage On-Line, the Brandon Sun, CJ104 in Swan River, the Opasquia Times, and the Thompson Citizen.

“The support, the good questions from members, the media coverage ? all went a long way in letting the government know that province-wide, we are united,” said Gawronsky. “We made it clear that in this round of bargaining, a fair and respectful agreement is worth fighting for.”
