Yesterday evening, MGEU
members from the Manitoba Liquor and Gaming Authority (LGA), Locals 425 and 426, avoided possible strike action scheduled for next week by reaching a
tentative agreement through conciliation.
Back
in June, the LGA Bargaining Committee received a strike mandate from the
membership, and negotiations were getting to the point where strike action was looking
like a strong possibility. But the two sides spent many hours in talks over the
past couple weeks, and with the assistance of a conciliation officer, they were
successful in reaching a tentative agreement.
In the coming days, the Committee will be planning ratification
meetings for members to vote on the agreement. Further information on the vote will
be sent to members of the two Locals when the details are finalized.
