The majority of just over a hundred members of Special People in Kildonan East (Local 266), who provide community living assistance to people living with intellectual disabilities, voted to ratify a new three-year collective agreement yesterday.

While there is no wage increase in the first year of the agreement, members will see a four percent increase in the second year, with the third year contingent on government funding. Other highlights include an additional step to the pay plan and the establishment of a weekend premium.

Representatives from the MGEU will now work at getting the agreement finalized and signed, before it's printed and distributed to members. SPIKE members are encouraged to update their contact information here to ensure they receive a copy of the new contract.
