The Province announced today that their budget will be presented to Manitobans on Thursday, April 30, 2105.

“We await this budget with great interest,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky, “especially as we look forward to the government’s plan for public services in the coming year.”

Gawronsky said she met with Finance Minister in December 2014 to discuss the union’s top priorities for ensuring quality public services are there when Manitobans need them. Key topics of discussion included challenges at the civil service bargaining table and the danger of balancing the budget at the expense of vital services.

“We’ll be presenting a more detailed pre-budget submission to the Minister in the coming weeks,” Gawronsky added. “Through their work, day in and day out, our members have unique insights into what our public service system needs to be both cost-effective and caring. That's why it’s so important we make sure their voices are heard.”
