On Saturday, February 7, members of the MGEU Young Members Committee took the 2015 Winnipeg Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Manitoba and rose over $7,000 in the process.

In the Committee’s inaugural plunge last year, they raised $2,600 for the charity by jumping into an icy pool (or more specifically, a large garbage bin fringed with icicles) outside the Indian and Métis Friendship Centre. But the Committee set its sights a bit higher for 2015, hoping to eclipse the $5,000 mark in donations – and so they did, by more than $2,000.

The Committee thanks friends, family, and other MGEU members who donated. When it was all tallied, more than $42,000 was raised by all participants in this year’s event.

For Brandonites looking to become a human ice cube in support of the same cause, the 1st annual Polar Plunge in Brandon is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Assiniboine Community College.
