If you can’t beat the cold, you might as well jump right in with both feet. The MGEU Young Members Committee is taking that approach to Manitoba’s recent frigid weather by participating next month in the 2015 Winnipeg Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Manitoba.

In the Committee’s inaugural plunge last year they raised $2,600 for the charity. Committee Chair, Scott Cloney, says they’ve raised their goal to $5,000 this year.

“The committee is really excited to take the plunge again and support the great athletes and programs at Special Olympics Manitoba. Last year was such a great event that we thought ‘let’s do it again’ and maybe set our sights a little higher to raise some more money for a very good cause.”

Cloney and the Committee are asking their fellow MGEU members to help them reach their goal by visiting the donation page and selecting one (or both) of the MGEU teams listed to make a donation.

The Committee will be challenging other MGEU members to take part in the Polar Plunge or donate $20 to opt out.

The Winnipeg Polar Plunge takes place Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Indian Metis Friendship Centre, while the 1st annual Polar Plunge in Brandon is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2015 at  Assiniboine Community College.
