I love this time of year! I know it’s been said before, but it really does bring out the very best in people. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve heard so many inspiring stories of MGEU members who are celebrating the season by finding ways to give back to their community: gathering donations for food banks, collecting warm clothes for those without a home, and volunteering their time to make the holiday season a little brighter for those who have nowhere else to turn.
I also love this time of year because it’s our chance to spend valuable time with friends and family. I’m very proud of the fact that the labour movement has played such an important role in helping Canadians find work/life balance so that we can get the job done and still have a chance to enjoy time over the holiday season with those we hold near and dear.
We know public services never take a holiday. So, while many of us celebrate the season, MGEU members are working around the clock to continue to provide the vital services we count on to keep our province going and our families safe during the holidays. I’d like to salute all of the MGEU members hard at work during this busy holiday season for their commitment and service to Manitobans. Thank you.
