MGEU members of Local 220 - WRHA Community Programs - broke off negotiations with representatives of the WRHA on Friday, December 5 due to the employer's concessionary demands at the bargaining table.

Bargaining was scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, but the employer cancelled that session. There is no indication that the employer is prepared to negotiate a fair and reasonable collective agreement without taking away the benefits Local 220 members have fought hard for over many years.

As a result, the Local 220 Bargaining Committee feels there is no option available except to take a strike vote. They are asking for the support of the membership to vote YES to a strike mandate and have scheduled the following dates for members to cast their ballots:

January 5th, 2015

Canad Inns Polo Park

Ambassador Rm 3 & 4
1405 St Matthews Avenue
Information Session at 5:30 PM

January 6th, 2015
Canad Inns Club Regent

Ambassador Rm C & D
1415 Regent Ave W
Information Session at 5:30 PM

Members of Local 220 can attend either session. Voting will take place both days immediately after each information session.

Additional voting details are being mailed to members of the Local.
