MGEU Local 158 (Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre) members ratified a new five-year collective agreement today.

The contract (effective April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2017) includes a 7% general wage increase by April 2016, plus an additional 2% long service step for members with twenty or more years of continuous service. The contract also includes increases to shift premiums and improvements to bereavement leave and severance pay.

Local 158 members have waited patiently over two years to get to this point. That’s because MATC negotiations, which are traditionally set by the Health Care Support Services (HCSS) Common Table settlement, were delayed for several months last year when health care representation votes took place throughout the province.

Approximately 110 MGEU members work at MATC and the Local 158 bargaining committee would like to thank every one of them for their patience throughout this lengthy round of negotiations. They also encourage members to update their contact information with the union to ensure all MATC members receive a copy of the contract once it’s printed.
