On Tuesday, March 4, 2014, the Health Care Support Services (HCSS) Bargaining Committee reached a tentative agreement with the employer. The Committee is recommending acceptance of the agreement.

It includes the monetary package negotiated at the HCSS multi-union bargaining table where all unions (CUPE, Operating Engineers 987, PSAC, UFCW 1869 and 832) bargained together.

It’s a five-year deal which includes the following highlights:

Wages

No increase in 2012

No increase in 2013

2.5% increase April 1, 2014

2.5% increase April 1, 2015

2.0% increase April 1, 2016

Long-Service Step

Effective October 1, 2014, those with twenty years of part-time or full-time service who’ve been at the top of their pay scale for a minimum of one year will receive a 2% long-service step. Thereafter, members will move on to this step as soon as they meet these criteria.

Premiums

Night shift and weekend premiums will increase by fifteen cents each on April 1, 2016 and October 1, 2016.

The HCSS Bargaining Committee will be meeting shortly to prepare a comprehensive package of information to share with members.

The next step will be scheduling meetings where members will have the opportunity to vote on the deal.

These meetings will be scheduled into April as there are many Locals to organize all across the province.
