The decision to eliminate door-to-door mail delivery will see almost 8,000 good jobs evaporate from the Canadian economy, and while many of us are fortunate enough to be able to get to a community mailbox to pick up our mail, this new system will create a huge barrier for many including senior citizens, people with disabilities and those confined to their homes. The new, higher prices will also make it even harder for low income families to access this service.
We have an obligation to stand up and protect this valuable public service not only for ourselves, but for our most vulnerable citizens and for future generations.
