working short health care support services long-term care personal care home

The practice of working short is hurting care for thousands of Manitobans in personal care homes and hospitals. Without adequate staff on the floor, real people suffer – which is why the MGEU is asking Manitobans to join a rally at the Legislature on Tuesday, October 29th (noon – 1 pm).

The MGEU has been advocating for fair treatment and an end to working short (i.e. additional workloads being placed on workers due to the lack of available replacement staff), but it’s important that all MGEU members stand together in emphasizing to government that our seniors and our health care support workers deserve better.

“I’ve been a health care aide. I’ve been in those shoes and worked short more times than I care to mention,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “I think it’s time to speak up about the reality in our facilities, and how it’s hurting Manitobans.”

This rally is a multi-union initiative that will bring workers from ALL facilities across the province together to stand in solidarity on behalf of Manitoba families and communities.

Please make every effort to attend, encourage others to join you, and put this poster up in your workplace to get the word out.
