UFCW Local 832 members who were on strike at Vista Park Lodge have voted in favour of a new three year deal.

With the assistance of a Labour Board appointed conciliation officer the employer came to the table with enough of a change on their position to have the union bargaining committee recommend the new deal.

The ratification of this contract comes after more than a month of being on strike. On September 14, 2013, members went on strike against contracting-out of work, poor wages and concessionary bargaining.

“I’d like to extend a big thank you for all the support of MGEU members provided during the strike,” said UFCW Local 832 President, Jeff Traeger.

MGEU President, Michelle Gawronsky said, “A huge thanks to everyone who came out and showed their support. Our members make the MGEU strong and proud.”
