MGEU members from the Manitoba Developmental Centre (MDC) can celebrate a job well done, after the Centre was reaccredited and identified to have met “high performance standards…to deliver the very best quality services” by the Council on Accreditation (COA) .

The COA is an international, independent, not-for-profit, child- and family-service and behavioral healthcare accrediting organization. They conduct research to determine the best practices in the field and then evaluate the services of each centre based on those standards.

“Congratulations to all MDC members. This kind of recognition wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated workers who care for MDC residents every day. If it weren’t for them, the Centre wouldn’t be able to meet its mandate, plain and simple,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky.

Located in Portage la Prairie, the Manitoba Developmental Centre provides care, supervision and developmental programs for over 220 residents. The Centre is committed to the principles of resident-centered service and continuous quality improvement and strives to enhance the quality of life for the Manitobans who reside there.
