October 7-11, 2013 is Health Care Aide Week – a salute to more than 8,000 women and men who provide front-line care for our most vulnerable citizens – as proclaimed by the Manitoba Government.

Health Care Aides ensure Manitobans remain independent for as long as possible. They work in a variety of settings; including home, community and residential care.

“This week is a special opportunity to say thank you to the unsung heroes of our healthcare system,” says MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky. “Often they don’t receive the recognition they deserve for keeping our system going. On behalf of every MGEU member, I’m pleased to say ‘thank you’ to all of our Health Care Aides in Manitoba for their contribution.”

The MGEU represents more than 1,600 Health Care Aides and roughly 4,500 Home Care Attendants in Manitoba.
